Issues detected early, and resolved at the root cause
Most offices learn about a problem when staff can’t work. A disk fills, a certificate expires or a link starts dropping; it gets patched for the day, then returns.
What we configure, and what it prevents
| What we configure | What it prevents |
|---|---|
| Alerts for down links and devices | Learning the internet is down when the phones go quiet. |
| Disk space and hardware health checks | A full disk or failing drive taking a server offline. |
| Certificate and licence expiry tracking | A website, VPN or firewall service failing on its expiry date. |
| Root-cause analysis with packet captures (Wireshark) | The same fault returning every few weeks. |
| Traffic flow analysis (NetFlow) | Guesswork about what is consuming your internet bandwidth. |
What’s included
- Coverage: internet links, switches, firewalls and servers
- Alerting: full disks, failing hardware and expiring certificates
- Troubleshooting: the root cause found, not just a restart
- Analysis: packet captures (Wireshark) and flow data (NetFlow)
- Reporting: a short written summary after each major incident
- Trend review: regular analysis of alerts and capacity
How it’s delivered
- We agree with you on the devices and services that matter most.
- We configure monitoring and alerting for each of them.
- When an alert fires or staff report an issue, we trace it to the root cause.
- After each fix, we explain what happened and what will prevent a repeat.
Frequently asked questions
- What do you monitor?
- Internet links, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, servers and other devices your work depends on, plus disk space, hardware health and certificate expiry dates. We agree on the list with you.
- What does “root cause” mean?
- It means finding why something failed, not just restoring service. If a connection drops every afternoon, we look for the reason, using packet captures and traffic data where needed, so it stops recurring.
- Can you monitor equipment we already own?
- Usually, yes. Most business-grade switches, firewalls and servers can report their health. Very old or consumer-grade equipment may not, and we tell you if that’s the case.
- Is monitoring part of managed IT?
- Yes. Monitoring is included in managed IT. You can also book troubleshooting per visit for a specific issue.
